Weekend Round Up

Sunday 10/04

Battersea Ladies 60 (ish)  v Venus 5

Although the score line may not suggest it entirely this was a better outing for the Venus than their previous encounter.  Some good runs of play plus a try by Jess Wilson (and overall less pain) saw Millwall Women come away from the encounter from a strong side in good spirits. Thanks to Streatham Croydon for loaning us players.

End of Season Dinner Tickets now available- All aboard for the HMS Belfast on 18/06.

Upcoming Fixtures

England v Rest of the World 23/04

You couldn’t make it up really – England v Rest of the World returns after covid, only to land on St Georges Day, in the Queens Platinum Jubilee year!  Whether that will prove auspicious for England or if it will inspire the Rest of the World to spoil the story remains for you to see on 23/04.

Volunteers are required for bar shifts – the plan is to run these in slots so everyone gets to enjoy the day.  If you are interested, please let Adrian know either by email Adrian0459@btinternet.com or text – 07887715874.

A word on Discipline from the Chairman

With the season having drawn to a close, it is heartening that there have been no disciplinary charges brought against our players, supporters and members. Long may that continue. Unfortunately, the good discipline seen at Millwall has not always been replicated elsewhere.

The Chair of the Essex County RFU disciplinary committee has recently written to clubs to warn the touchline behaviour in the county has reached an all-time low. All clubs have been put on notice that any instance of behaviour that bring the club into disrepute will be dealt with most severely, whether at youth or adult level. League points deductions and bans from cup competitions are likely to follow.

It is therefore essential that all of us at Millwall continue to embody the core rugby values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship, and not rise to any bad behaviour on the part of opposing spectators.
