How the adults games played out on the almighty club day.

Venus

Whites 33  - Millwall shirts 15

An entertaining game with some enjoyable breakthrough tries and a few bone slapping tackles.  Saw the white shirts come away with the win.  Good to see some of the former Venus players both on and off the pitch.

Men

England 17 -  ROW 33 (38)

I’m very sure the score was 38 to the ROW side but far be it from me to argue with the ref  (I read the Essex RFU discipline memo).  In the end the “missing” try did not make a difference to the outcome as the Rest of the World claimed another victory. 

However, it has to be said the real winner of the day was rugby and Milllwall as all sections of the club turned up in full force, great to see young and old, current and former members grace the park and clubhouse.  A big thanks to everyone who showed up, helped out and supported the club in their own way.

As the dust (literally and figuratively – that upper right corner of the pitch was a very dry one) settles on what was an excellent club day we can look forward to the next couple of club events:

AGM – Saturday 14th May at 12.00 pm

Fri 29 April– Deadline to have an eligible membership to be able to stand/vote/attend

Sat 30 April– All nominations to be submitted to Secretary (secretary@millwallrugby.com) in writing by 5pm and to include a brief summary of why you are standing for the role.

To complete the end of season trio of events we have the End of Season Dinner where we can get together and celebrate the club in style.

This year’s dinner takes place on the very photo worthy HMS Belfast.  Visit the webpage for more information and to purchase tickets.

Easter weekend is upon us and the Millwall Lions are swapping chocolate eggs for egg shaped balls on Sunday.

Youth training will take place on Millwall Park.

Sunday 10/04

Battersea Ladies 60 (ish)  v Venus 5

Although the score line may not suggest it entirely this was a better outing for the Venus than their previous encounter.  Some good runs of play plus a try by Jess Wilson (and overall less pain) saw Millwall Women come away from the encounter from a strong side in good spirits. Thanks to Streatham Croydon for loaning us players.
