Mixed youth and adult Touch Rugby sessions

Sunday the 30th of January at 11.30 we are holding the inaugural training session for what we hope will be the Millwall mixed youth and adult Touch Team – Millwall Underdogs.

The sesssions are open to youth (13+) boys, girls, and adults. We will train by official England Touch Rugby Rules and aim to - in time - enter mixed touch tournaments / leagues where possible.

Experience in Touch or rugby is not required all levels welcome.  A few familiar touch players have already signed up to be involved, notably Kazu who has been training the youth for the last few weeks in preparation for the first session - which Darryl Gera has kindly volunteered to run.

Weekend Round Up 22/01

Harwich & Dovercourt 10- Millwall 1s 15

A good time was had by all in this fixture. H&D hosted a lunch beforehand for some supporters - and there was Haggis present, I was not aware there would be.  Thanks again to @hdrufc for the excellent hospitality - I think we all agree at Millwall both fixtures were high points this season.

The game though - well after a 4 hour round trip it really was great to get a much needed win from some heroic defending and strong ball in hand moments. Another key factor (as identified by one player) being a stronger sense of collective responsibility - long may it continue if this is the reward.

South Woodham Ferrers II 64 - Millwall Llamas 34

"Yes we did score a few, they scored more" was a not unreasonable quote after the game.

Weekend Round-up 15/01 & 16/01

Saturday 15/01

Millwall 1s 12 – Writtle 24

A determined Writtle made sure they punished any discipline issues with slotting their penalties. A couple of tries part way through the second half livened up the game (Doug Lowe finishing off the work done by Shek “silky hands” Palit for the first one) for the home supporters contingent but Writtle never really lost their nerve and added some more points coolly to complete the win.

Pegasus 68 v Llamas 5

Despite a solid scrummaging performance against a bigger pack and notable performances from John O’Kelly and Matt Hopkins the Llamas were unable to contain a very in form Pegasus.

Sunday 16/01

Romford Ravens 45 v Millwall Venus 10

Despite the score line Venus played what was an enjoyable fixture for both teams. Special mention to the new girls on the side for a good effort.
